Welcome to this week's exclusive feature of one of our favorite fitness providers: www.babybootcamp.com. We hope you enjoy reading about the fitness programs and exclusive jog stroller offered through their site. If you are looking for a way to get in shape and lose those pregnancy lbs... well ladies, this is the way to do it!
Kristen Horler, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, also a Certified Personal Trainer and mother of two, launched Baby Boot Camp in San Francisco, California in 2001 after she could not find a fitness program that addressed the physical and logistical challenges of being a mom. Since that time, the company has expanded the program through franchising and licensing. Now more than 350 locations feature Baby Boot Camp classes.
Baby Boot Camp has recently gained such a momentum in the marketplace that Kristen was interviewed on Good Morning America about the company's programs. Here's an excerpt from a recent press release in November 2007:
Baby Boot Camp, the nation’s premier prenatal and postpartum fitness program designed for mom and baby, is on a mission to help families build a lifetime of fitness. Currently available in over 350 locations, the program is averaging 25 new locations and ten new franchise owners per month with recent expansion to Bermuda and the United Kingdom.
“We are passionate about helping parents all over the world learn how to get and stay fit,” said Kristen Horler, CEO and founder of Baby Boot Camp. “With the current dialogue focused on our nation’s obesity epidemic, we believe that every parent has a huge responsibility to reverse this issue for future generations. Mother’s make the majority of the purchasing decisions for the family and need to take responsibility for her family’s lifestyle choices. We need to lead by example and stop blaming the media and fast-food restaurants for our health problems.”
“After I had my baby, I needed help sticking with a workout program and making healthy choices for myself and my family,” said Amy Greene, Baby Boot Camp student and mother of two. “I realized that I had to take responsibility for myself and my family and Baby Boot Camp provided me with the accountability that I needed. I have lost 25 pounds and dropped 4 sizes this year. It’s important to me that I’m exposing my children to a healthy and active lifestyle at such a young age.”
Arming parents with the tools to get fit and fight issues like obesity is one of Baby Boot Camp’s main goals for 2008. Fitness classes consist of workouts that help moms regain or enhance pre-pregnancy fitness levels and meet the physical challenges of parenting by emphasizing strength training in a supportive environment. Kids are introduced to healthy behaviors early in life, as they are integrated right into the class structure. Partners and caregivers are also welcome in class.
We hope you've enjoyed this week's issue and look forward to bringing you next week's issue -- Gear, Gadgets & Gizmos! Until then... jog on mommas!
